Invited by the “Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana”, Shanghai designer Jarel Zhang presented his Fall/Winter 24/25 collection inside the beautiful Circolo Folologico Milanese.
Following his passion for art and after having made the previous presentation surrounded by painters, for this Fall/Winter 2024/25 collection, Jarel Zhang brought dancers on the stage as models.
Inspired by the Universe and the story of the asteroid felt on Earth in 2008: Catalina Sky Survey 8TA9D69TC3, better known as TC3, the designer wanted to create a universe giving the idea of a timeless ride through the Space by delivering some poems (see below). The designer expresses his idea of having no boundaries through his communication. He wants to share and learn.
The timelessness goes through this collection, the designer mixed textures, shapes and colors adding new silhouettes meantime recycling items from the previous Fall/Winter 2023 collection. Jarel plays between past, present and future in his artistic direction but also through his looks.
Jarel also develops this idea by presenting his collection in Italy. For him, it’s important to exhibit in different cities. With this in mind, Jarel Zhang insists on the absence of boundaries.
“UREILITES TC 3”
“2008 TC3 (Catalina Sky Survey temporary designation 8TA9D69) was an 80-tonne (80-long-ton; 90-short-ton), 4.1-meter (13 ft) diameter asteroid that entered Earth’s atmosphere on October 7, 2008. It exploded at an estimated 37 kilometers (23 mi) above the Nubian Desert in Sudan.”
Jarel Zhang used some lines of poetry to express hi thoughts and these are his declaration of love, a message shared with humans and E.T.
Aliens, More than Just One Kind
The spacecraft passes by the earth,
We choose not to stay,
For we are to meet with other aliens.
A Love Letter from the Universe
I want to send you a bundle of flowers
With colors beyond the seven colors,
More than infrared and ultraviolet.
I want to say I love you,
With Voices beyond human’s hearing,
More than supersonic and infrasonic.
I want to travel with you,
Travels bound to four-dimension and five-dimension spaces,
Love is sweeter there, perhaps with flavors.
I want to send my love to you,
A Love beyond the physical and mental limits of every living things.
Alien Time
Present would be past,
Times will soon be behind the times.
The Still Objects are Flying in another World
The still objects are disdained of the world,
Embrace their own serenity and silence.
No color, no voice, no motion,
They have secretly and strenuously finished their Odyssey,
Flying at will in another world,
I ever imagined their flying,
Like many slow and cumbersome behemoths cruising in boundless gray chaos
So, every time I meet with silence, I know they are so joyful.
Still Infinite
Do not envy us,
Do not envy our wisdom, which is infinitely greater times than yours,
Do not envy our Odysseys, which is beyond every borders and frontiers of the universe,
Do not envy us, for we have learned the secrets of the Big Bang,
Beyond the boundaries of the universe, more outer of the space, what is there?
Further beyond, what is there?
Before the origins of the Big Bang, what was there?
Even further before, what was there?
