Camira Elevates the Everyday with Upland

Global textile manufacturer Camira has announced the launch of Upland, a beautifully soft upholstery fabric that brings the warmth, depth, and quiet character of the Yorkshire hills into contemporary interior spaces.

Camira Upland Colors

Inspired by the undulating landscape surrounding Camira’s headquarters, Upland embodies intelligent design from yarn to finished textile, delivering a natural wool-like appearance in a high-performance synthetic construction.

Upland is an elevated essential for every day, engineered with purpose; celebrating contrast by balancing a simple yet sophisticated aesthetic with heavy-duty practicality. As a mono-material fabric, it is thoughtfully engineered for future recyclability without compromising on durability or comfort. Furthermore, Upland utilizes an innovative water-free colouration process, reducing its environmental footprint while delivering an exceptionally rich, layered color palette.

Crafted using specialist air-texturised yarns, developed and manufactured by Camira’s, the fabric achieves a lofty, substantial handle that remains distinctly soft to the touch. With inherent bleach cleanability, flame retardancy and moisture resistance, it is built to perform beautifully in high-use environments, making it equally suited for task seating, soft seating, panels and curtains in multi-use interiors.

Upland’s tweedy, colour-woven construction blends multi-coloured yarns to create movement, texture, and visual interest across every surface. The collection features an expansive palette of 40 rich colourways inspired by Yorkshire’s shifting landscape. This versatile spectrum moves effortlessly from grounding greys and evolving neutrals – where contemporary greens emerge as the new neutral – to rich aubergines, burnt oranges, and deep reds. The collection also explores lighter dimensions through soft blush tones, sunshine yellows, corn hues, gentle greens, and a full spectrum of blues ranging from cool, crisp tones to deeply saturated teals.

Camira’s Creative Director, Lynn Kingdon, is delighted with the company’s latest introduction: “This beautiful fabric represents “Made by Camira” from yarn to woven and finished fabric. Upland sits comfortably between synthetic performance and wool-inspired aesthetics, combining everyday practicality with a richly complex colouration and naturally refined appearance. It’s a true reflection of Camira’s design, innovation and manufacturing capabilities.”

The Upland fabric is available in the UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.

Camira designs and manufactures textiles for every space and sector; from commercial, hospitality and residential, to public transport, including bus, coach and rail.

Camira is a privately-owned UK textile group founded in 1974 under the name Camborne Fabrics, but its heritage goes back to 1783 through various acquisitions. Until a management buy-out in 2006, the company was a subsidiary of Interface, an international manufacturer of textile modular floor coverings, for almost ten years. Today, Camira has an annual turnover of around £80 million and employs more than 600 people. Its products are sold in approximately 75 countries.

Headquartered in the UK, the company has manufacturing facilities in the UK and Lithuania, offices and showrooms in Europe, North America, Australia and China and a global network of agents and distributors.

The company has always been a pioneer in sustainable textiles, introducing its first recycled fabrics in the 1990s, as well as innovating a new category of fabrics made from natural wool and plant fibers, such as nettles, flax and hemp. The company is also a pioneer in textile-to-textile recycled fabrics, treating textile waste as a precious resource to create new materials and support a circular economy.
