The 13th edition of Supima’s Annual Design Competition has ended and this year’s winner is Amanda Forastieri.
On October 8th, The Supima Design Lab made an Instagram Live and simultaneously streamed a runway show on www.Supima.com to introduce the international community to this year’s finalists and winner of the 13th annual Supima Design Competition.
Representing Drexel University, Amanda Forastieri wowed the judges with her bold, visual collection entitled Utopia. In addition to the enormous press coverage, Forastieri won a $10,000 prize to help further her career in fashion.
After the Made With Supima* runway show, this year’s event featured leading fashion industry insiders in a roundtable organized by Benjamin Simmenauer, Fashion Expert, Brand Strategist and Permanent Professor at Institut Francais de la Mode. Participating in the roundtable discussion were Jean-Pierre Blanc – Founder International Festival de Hyeres, Godfrey Deeny – Global Editor-in-Chief, FashionNetwork, Marc Lewkowitz – President and CEO, Supima and Buxton Midyette – VP Marketing and Promotions, Supima.
Amanda Forastieri doesn’t remember the exact moment she knew that fashion design was her calling, but she was always interested in art since a child. But the handwritten note to herself in the 6th grade was pretty clear, “When I grow up, i want to be a fashion designer” and Forastieri hasn’t looked back since.
While creating Utopia, I always had a clear vision in my head and down on my sketchbook pages, which I always resorted to when in doubt. The very foundation of my concept didn’t change, which helped me stay on track throughout the creation of the collection.
— Amanda Forastieri, Winner – 13th Annual Supima Design Competition
Forastieri enrolled at Drexel University and was nominated for a Design Excellence Award her Freshman year. Forastieri graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design.
Titled Utopia, Forastieri hopes that her Supima collection will serve as a messenger of a better future after the crisis. Her collection aims to portray the hopeful story of a near future post-Covid in which humans unite to build a new system, one that stems with love and respect for the planet and, most importantly, each other.
