UK-based interiors brand Graham & Brown unveiled its Design of the Year, Colour of the Year, and Mural of the Year for 2027.
Celebrating artisan craftsmanship and the beauty of hand-painted design, this year’s selections include Roselle Grove as Design of the Year, Rose Earth as Colour of the Year, and Red Rose County as Mural of the Year.
Graham & Brown Design of the Year 2027: Roselle Grove
Warm and enveloping, Roselle Grove Dusky Pink offers a richer, more intimate interpretation of this intricate floral design. Set against a soft dusky pink backdrop, layered botanical motifs unfold with quiet confidence, creating an atmosphere that feels both expressive and comforting. The design is ideal for interiors seeking a cocooning, inviting ambiance. Lovingly crafted in Graham & Brown’s studio, each roll reflects the care, precision, and expertise that define the brand.
Inspired by the rich design of chintz, Roselle Grove honours a design tradition and process that began with Indian artisans in the 16th century. Using hand painted and block printing techniques with local dyes on cotton cloth, these makers created vivid floral gardens and botanical motifs that captivated Europe before arriving in Britain.
Hand painted in the Graham & Brown design studio in a gauche paint, which has a rich opacity and can be easily layered to add texture. Roselle Grove is steeped in history, heritage and artisan detail, the design captures the delicate whimsy of Indian chintz with an added touch of elevated English flair, created and crafted across the globe for generations.
Paula Taylor, Stylist at Graham & Brown comments:
“As chintz grew in popularity across home furnishings and fashion, European designers’ adapted the style, introducing larger floral motifs with a distinctly unique Western expression.
Creating Roselle Grove as our 2027 Design of the Year felt like a natural way to honour this rich industrial and creative legacy. It also celebrates the intricate beauty of chintz, tracing its journey along the Silk Road, through Europe and into Lancashire’s mills, before finding its place in Victorian homes across the country.”
Bringing this design to life has been a rewarding process for our talented studio, who have thoughtfully blended a rich mix of influences and heritage references to create a piece that feels both timeless and relevant.”
Graham & Brown Colour of the Year 2027: Rose Earth
To complement the 2027 Design of the Year Roselle Grove, Graham & Brown has announced its Colour of the Year: Rose Earth.
Rose Earth is a warm, versatile shade that works beautifully on its own or perfectly paired with a palette of warm neutrals, soft sage and cooler tones.
Named Graham & Brown’s Colour of the Year 2027, Rose Earth is a warm, grounded pink with soft clay and muted brown undertones. Reflecting the 2027 interior design shift toward nature-inspired palettes, tactile materials, and spaces that balance emotional comfort with individual expression, the shade draws inspiration from mineral pigments traditionally sourced from Italian clay deposits. Its nuanced tones evolve with the light, revealing dusty rose hues in daylight and warmer taupe and terracotta notes as the light fades. Versatile and enduring, Rose Earth brings depth and warmth to contemporary interiors, whether applied across walls for an immersive effect or used on cabinetry and architectural details for a more understated expression of color.
Soft and understated, it mixes well with new colours like Kelp and Sue’s Jumper paint to cool down a space. Alternatively, it can be perfectly partnered with warm neutrals, or used on its own, to bring warmth to a room.
Inspired by natural mineral pigments traditionally sourced from clay deposits in Italy, Rose Earth reflects the timelessness of earthy colours for their depth, reliability and natural character in the paint and textiles industry. A shade rooted in heritage, thoughtfully reimagined for today’s homes and tapping into current trends, the studio expects to see this colour make an impact in 2027 and beyond.
Graham & Brown Mural of the Year 2027: Red Rose County
Inspired by the rolling Lancashire landscape, this hand-painted mural captures the region’s panoramic scenery through bold blocks of colour and expressive brushstrokes. The design depicts a stylised version of iconic local landmarks, Rivington Pike and Jubilee Tower, through the eyes of local in-house designer Victoria Davison.
Named Graham & Brown’s Mural of the Year 2027, Red Rose County Day celebrates Lancashire’s countryside through a vibrant panorama of rolling hills, mature trees, and historic landmarks. Soft blues, fresh greens, and warm golden hues capture the landscape in daylight, creating a bright, inviting focal point that balances scenic detail with timeless appeal.
Influenced by traditional scenic wallpapers, the mural places craftsmanship at its heart, with visible texture adding depth and bringing this bucolic design to life. The result is a contemporary interpretation of Lancashire’s natural beauty that celebrates both place and artistry.
All Graham & Brown murals are digitally printed with sustainability in mind and created bespoke to suit the unique dimensions of your space.
Iona Graham, Brand & Marketing Controller, adds:
“It is always a highlight for us to reveal our Design, Colour and Mural of the Year, but as we celebrate our 80th anniversary, this year’s announcement feels even more special. It’s a proud milestone for the business and one that I believe my great-grandfather would have been incredibly proud to see. Together, these designs tell our story of craft, colour and heritage, each in their own unique ways.
A devotion to craftsmanship is one of our key values, and we are proud of the creative legacy we have built here at Graham & Brown. Each piece has been thoughtfully reimagined by our design studio for contemporary interiors, with beautiful designs and perfectly paired colours that people will love and feel proud to have in their homes. We look forward to seeing how our community styles these products in their homes.”
