Fashion with Purpose x The Riviera Issue Brings Couture and Humanitarian Relief Together in San Antonio.
Luxury fashion took on a deeper purpose in San Antonio as designers, philanthropists, creatives, and community leaders gathered for Fashion with Purpose x The Riviera Issue, an inaugural showcase where couture became a platform for humanitarian relief.
Held at The Monarch San Antonio Hotel, the evening brought together internationally recognized fashion designer Paola Estefania Linares, Your Guardian Angel Foundation, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), and Musas Runway International in support of families affected by the devastating 2026 earthquakes in Venezuela.
Blending the elegance of the French Riviera with a meaningful humanitarian mission, the event demonstrated how fashion can extend beyond the runway and become a vehicle for community engagement, philanthropy, and global relief. Guests were invited to support GEM’s ongoing disaster-response efforts through on-site QR-code donations while experiencing an exclusive runway presentation featuring one-of-a-kind couture, ready-to-wear, and evening collections. The result was an evening where luxury, creativity, and social impact shared the same spotlight.
When Fashion Becomes a Force for Good
The concept behind Fashion with Purpose x The Riviera Issue reflects a growing movement within the fashion industry toward purpose-driven experiences. Rather than treating philanthropy as an afterthought, the event placed humanitarian action at the center of the evening.
San Antonio provided a fitting setting for the showcase, bringing together a diverse creative and philanthropic community while introducing a luxury fashion experience with an international humanitarian focus. The event underscored the city’s ability to connect local audiences with causes extending far beyond its borders.
For Venezuela, that connection is particularly significant. GEM currently lists the Venezuela Earthquakes among its active missions, following the June 24, 2026 earthquakes that struck the country. GEM reports that its response has already reached tens of thousands of earthquake survivors, with its Latin America and Caribbean headquarters based in La Guaira, Venezuela.
The collaboration between designers, nonprofit organizations, sponsors, photographers, stylists, and other creatives transformed a traditional fashion presentation into a fundraising and awareness initiative. It also highlighted the power of collective action: when creative industries unite around a humanitarian cause, an evening of fashion can become an opportunity to mobilize support for communities in crisis.

The Humanitarian Mission
The evening’s partnership with Global Empowerment Mission connected the San Antonio fashion community directly to an active disaster-relief effort.
Founded in response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake, GEM operates through a model focused on rapid disaster response, stabilization, and sustainable recovery. According to GEM’s current information, the organization has conducted more than 387 disaster-relief missions across 76 countries and all 50 U.S. states.
GEM’s current missions include its response to the Venezuela earthquakes, with operations supporting affected communities through humanitarian aid and local infrastructure. The organization also maintains a Latin America headquarters in La Guaira, positioning its team close to communities affected by the disaster.
The organization’s current impact figures are updated regularly as missions continue, making its official missions and organizational pages the most reliable reference for its latest statistics.
Beyond the Runway
Fashion with Purpose x The Riviera Issue represents a broader shift toward events that merge fashion, culture, philanthropy, and social responsibility.
The evening demonstrated that luxury does not have to exist in isolation. Couture can tell a story, create a gathering point, attract attention to urgent causes, and help connect people who might otherwise never encounter one another.
In San Antonio, the runway became more than a stage for fashion. It became a meeting place for creativity and compassion, offering a reminder that the most memorable fashion events are sometimes the ones that leave an impact long after the final look has disappeared backstage.
Fashion with Purpose x The Riviera Issue ultimately offered a vision of luxury with intention: beautiful, ambitious, collaborative, and capable of contributing to something larger than itself.
