The Calais-based lace-maker, Noyon-Darquer Group, took part in the Dinard International Festival of Young Fashion Designers for the second time this year and co-sponsored the new Special Lingerie Prize, alongside Allande Lingerie Fine, the French Federation of Lace and Embroidery (FFDB), the Mode City trade show and the Grand Hôtel Barrière.

London's Victoria & Albert Museum opened the first UK solo exhibition celebrating the life and work of Yohji Yamamoto, one of the world's most influential fashion designers.

The European Fashion Award - FASH 2011 entitled "Attention please!?" searched for answers to these questions.
