April 13, 2011, London - It is officially the festival season in the U.K.
With the Royal Wedding, and the Easter break giving most people two long weekends, it calls for celebrations across the country.
There are holiday packages, which are being sold like hotcakes, and if people are not busy planning the best spot to see the wedding of the year, they are busy making the most of the frenzy out of London.
Now, we all know how the weather in summer is supposed to be, sunny and warm, but we do have a frequent visitor amidst all the warmth, the April Showers.
It is like we know that they exist but we try to avoid that fact as much, till it pours down, while you are out in the markets, or hunting, or just walking your dog, or best still head banging at a rock fest somewhere in between of nowhere!
At times like these, you have a newfound best friend in your faithful "Wellies",of course only if you own them.
I know of people who would rather be dead than caught wearing them, and on the other side I know of people who live in it! In fact they have a "going- out" Wellie!
For the former group, well there is good news! Alas, someone has heard our prayers and given us a chance to look chic while still walking through slush and streams.
There are a range of Wellies (Short for Wellington Boots) by designer Jimmy Choo who has collaborated with the popular shoe brand Hunter to what we call, is the "God of the Rain Boot".
With leopard print lining and a contrast metal buckle, I would think twice to wear them out in the rain, let alone the muck it brings along! The price tag doesn't help either. To prove that thought wrong, these shoes were so in demand that there was a waiting list on the Jimmy Choo Website! |
For all those in love with their sky scraping heels, fear not, as there is a solution for you as well, by this young company called Wedge Welly, selling unique wedge heeled rain boots. Easy!
So there are quite a few options out there for everyone actually!
These are a must have in the Summer Shower wardrobe, of course I would recommend combining it with Burberry's bright Rain Perspex Trench or a Clear cape from Topshop. |
