As part of the London Festival of Architecture this year, Hat-itecture, exhibited the latest and most innovative forms of hat art, combining not just hats and architecture, but inspirational headwear.

Hat-itecture evolved when milliner Gabriela Ligenza, whose hats retail in some of the most prestigious stores including Harrods and Selfridges, collaborated with you&me, a 'multi-disciplinary design platform' founded by two architects, Alicia Borkowska and Iris Papadatou.

Artists and architects showcased their designs at the exhibition, which were infused with the spirit of London and what makes the city so famous. Headwear was inspired by the Gherkin (a skyscraper in London), Green Park, London Zoo and the underground tube map. One piece was a made entirely out of maps of London.

These innovative designs come in the wake of the rising popularity of hats and headwear in the fashion industry. No longer solely worn for weddings and Ascot, but to express individuality, with Lady Gaga the leading the way for this trend.

The exhibition continues to be shown until 18th July at the Gabriela Ligenza hat shop, 5 Ellis Street, London, SW1X 9AL. (Mon-Sat 10am - 6pm)
