Balenciaga
I guess the thing to ask yourself when watching a Balenciaga show is not "Will I wear it?" or "Is it beautiful?", you ask yourself "Do I get this?" or "Am I enjoying looking at it?" In my case, I also ask myself "How much do I love the shoes?" and this season, the answer to that is not very much, as they are all flat, creeper style shoes, very Fluevog-esque but too clunky. Dries Van Noten
Dries Van Noten makes clothing and shoes women can wear. Real women, who don't totter around in stilettos all day and who are normal sizes like 6 and 8 and 12. This collection, like most Dries shows, featured some beautiful tailoring, a surprising use of colour, and some stunning prints. Rochas
This Rochas show was seriously unimpressive. The matronly, retro, countryside looks were not well executed, didn't feel cohesive, and in some cases were very unflattering. However, some of the lingerie references ended up looking quite interesting, particularly in the evening wear...read more |
