TREND SPARK!

Film Spark!

Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld has just announced he will be launching a luggage collection inspired by ...himself. Produced by the Accessory Network Group and set to be launched in Fall 09, the collection will include handbags, small leather goods and luggage.

The color palette is primarily black with white and beige, and includes some blue and orange accents. His initials will feature in the embroidery, and the pieces will include novelty accessories such as handles shaped as sunglasses and zipper pulls shaped as ties. In theory, it sounds tacky, but then again, Karl doesn't really do "tacky", he is better at doing "cool."

Sex and the CityThe long-awaited Sex and the City film premiere took place in London on Monday.

To be honest, I am not particularly interested in what happens in the movie (I was never a huge fan), but I was definitely interested in seeing what the girls would be wearing.

This would have been one of the most coveted red carpet outfits this year, and the spots went to Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Calvin Klein, and a vintage dress. Although they looked great, I was expecting something a little bit more "wow." Let's hope the film is a bit more exciting than their outfits.

Marks and Spencer BagsMarks and Spencer, UK's fashion pioneers when it comes to ethics and sustainability, has recently introduced a 5 pence fee for their plastic bags. The profit from each bag (1.85p) will go to Groundwork, a national charity promoting 'greener living spaces.'

I imagine this won't be the last of we see of this, as many brands have toyed with the idea of eliminating free plastic bags, and several entire towns in the UK have banned plastic bags completely. By introducing the initiative, Marks and Spencer hope their customers will switch to longer lasting bags. Marks and Spencer are clearly on a role with sustainability issues, as they have also recently opened their first eco-friendly factory, where clothing will be made in a carbon neutral environment.

Nike at LibertysNike have found a very cool way to cash in on the floral print trend that is taking over Spring Summer wardrobes.

The Liberty Dunks, part of their Be True campaign, use two very classic Liberty prints, Wilshire and Pepper on their Tier-0 Dunk High trainers, for women.

For those of you that don't know, Libertys is a famous London department store in a beautiful tudor-building that specializes in exclusive, interesting luxury products, and who are famous for their floral prints. I have been toying with the idea of buying a chunky trainer, this might just be the perfect one for the summer.
