Paris Autumn/Winter 2009 Menswear Collections Trend Round Up | Part I

Neck Gear

Milan was about scarf's, Paris is about embellishment around the neck, in the form of unusual cowl necks, armor-style appliqués, and embroidery.

Deconstructed Collars

Amongst a lot of shawl and textured collars, there were a few designers who deconstructed the typical collar shape, creating an unusual form on classic jackets.

Volume Trousers

Trousers will have volume for Autumn Winter, with balloon silhouettes, low-slug crotches, baggy cuts, or jodhpur shapes.

Monochrome Patterns

Prints were scarce on the Paris Autumn Winter 2009/2010 catwalks, however there we quite a few designers who favored monochrome patterns.

Pointy Shoulders

Gareth Pugh and Maison Martin Margiela both showed pointy shoulders on their catwalks.

Shiny Blacks

Patent black leathers and high shine black fabrics were seen at Givenchy, Junya Watanabe, and Yves Satin Laurent.

Serious, Waisted Coats

There was certainly an air of seriousness on the Paris catwalks, and many designers favored somber coats with tightly belted waists to evoke a feeling of power yet sobriety.
