Principles Spring & Summer 2008

Principles Spring & Summer 2008

Principles Spring & Summer 2008 A softer romantic mood brings in a fresher and lighter feel to the spring summer season. The strong woman aesthetic of last winter has given way to a gentler more sophisticated attitude. Fabrics are translucent with a diaphanous quality or fluid to envelope the body in sensual layers. Retro references are channeled through some of our favorite glamorous icons of the past - Catherine Deneuve for her sense of 70's inspired polish to tailored separates. Gina Lollobrigida for a sexy 50's Latino edge and the ethereal starlets of the 30's for their languid and refined silhouettes.

MODERN ROMANCE

In pretty tones of coral, lavender, blush and lemon, floral prints look new particularly with the scale play that is so important this season. Frills, ruffles and layering add to the romantic feel. Chiffons and organza add lightness to this layering.

DENEUVE

Feminine 70's style suiting, pretty blouses and couture shells in levels of pale grays and apricot. Waist detailing continues for spring with a masculine twist to styling. Stylized floral and graphic spot prints add a modern touch.

SOPHISITICATED SAFARI

Modern tribal prints are paired with clean safari styling in grown-up hues of vanilla, mocha and coffee high lighted with chartreuse and tomato. A full -skirted silhouette is the key in here to give this look a glamorous edge. Tailored separates reference the 70's with sleeveless and cropped jackets paired with tailored shorts and flared pants.

DEAUVILLE

30's inspired cruise look in a palette of ink through to oyster. Soft stripes, ombres, chine effects on prints and pale spot effect jacquards adds newness. Languid pant suits with a masculine edge are paired with halter neck tops with dramatic bow details.

NOUVEAU

The 30's mood is translated into bias cut fluid pieces in crepes and sheers layered with sleeveless waistcoats. Fragile beading and feather accessories add glamor to delicate layers in nudes, pale greys and peony.
