Design and Innovative Materials: From Roma to the Most Important International Museums |
 |
 |
The Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao is the last international museum which selected the jewels and delicate pleats of Sandra Di Giacinto for its art-shop.
Graduated in sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Roma, Sandra Di Giacinto, has always been fascinated by paper, by its countless working solutions, the different ways in which it can be treated, folded, and assembled into innumerable shapes.
The designer is strongly attracted by Japanese art. However, the pleating technique that she uses draws inspiration from ancient Greece.
Her collection of jewels is therefore minimal, light, durable and brightly colored. Sandra Di Giacinto's work is characterized by the constant research of new types of paper.
Recently, metallic paper has been a great source of inspiration. Hence, soft and bright colors characterize her latest jewels, which come in shades of black and ivory, silver and gold.
All the jewels are hand-made in limited edition, with an innovative use of materials.
The latest collection 2006 exposed at Maison et Objet international exhibition in Paris drew a lot of attention.
The collection has been selected by trendy boutiques all over the world and also by prestigious museum shops such as the Capitoline Museums of Roma, the Venice Biennale, La Pedrera Museum in Barcellona, Macro and Maxxi in Roma and the newly opened Carlo Bilotti Museum in the Villa Borghese Gardens of Rome.
