Fashion Focus Chicago 2006 is a citywide celebration of fashion in Chicago. "Working with the talented designers, artists, schools and organizations of this dynamic industry, the City of Chicago presents 12 days of runway shows, shopping events, fabric sales, seminars for aspiring and established designers, and many other programs. You will find fashion and shopping events in Millennium Park and our city’s neighborhoods, as well as innovative events highlighting our local fashion design students’ work." says Mayor Richard M. Daley and he continues;
"The centerpiece of this celebration, four runway shows from September 25 to September 28, occurs at Millennium Park’s Rooftop Terrace. Over 100 of Chicago’s finest designers will be shown throughout the week.
On Monday, September 25, Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion returns to the Rooftop Terrace with a Spring 2007 preview. Chicago Sister Cities International Program brings you World Fashion Chicago on Tuesday, September 26. The Designers of Chicago at Macy’s on State Street hit the runway Wednesday, September 27.
The Rooftop Terrace runway shows culminate with the Apparel Industry Board’s Chicago Is…Red Hot! event on Thursday, September 28. Fashion Focus Chicago 2006 is presented in partnership with the Apparel Industry Board Inc.; Chicago Fashion Foundation; Chicago Loop Alliance; Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center; Columbia College Chicago; Gen Art; Illinois Institute of Art–Chicago; International Academy of Design & Technology; Macy’s; Greater North Michigan Avenue Association and The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. I encourage you to come out and learn more about the thriving creative fashion industry in Chicago."
