German Fashion Industry Award Celebrates 10th Anniversary

By German Fashion Industry Foundation
[Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie - SDBI]

[Berlin], August 6, 2014 - Fashion as the expression of attitude: whether social utopia, poetic symbol of protest or escape from the everyday - freedom has many different dimensions. On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the European Fashion Award FASH 2015 is looking for fashion designs with the theme of "Freedom".

A special challenge this topic presents is digitalization, as technology tends to advance faster than our culture. Increased surveillance and uniformity follow. Freedom also plays a special role in Berlin, the new home of the German Fashion Industry Foundation (Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie) in short SDBI. Berlin was the city where the parties NSDAP and SED reigned, famous for the Iron Curtain and the fall of the Wall, and where many social and artistic experiments took place. Today, the city is known as a creative center and fashion metropolis, offering artistic freedom like no other.

Participants From Around The Globe

The globally advertised competition targets especially talented design students from all areas of design beginning with the fourth semester. A second category is open to final projects from the year 2014.

Registration is now open at www.sdbi.de and runs until the deadline on September 12th.
Projects must be submitted by September 26th, 2014.
The detailed scope of the competition is available at www.sdbi.de.

10th Anniversary
The European Fashion Award FASH celebrates its 10th anniversary with this competition. The award was presented for the first time in 2005 during the sporting goods trade show ISPO in Munich. Since then it has established itself as one of the most important international endorsement awards for fashion design students.

The European Fashion Award FASH by the German Fashion Industry Foundation (SDBI)
The European Fashion Award FASH is an annual competition held by the Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie (German Fashion Industry Foundation - SDBI) since 2005. Thanks to its tradition, fairness and strictly professional direction, the challenging tasks, international jury and elaborate selection process with the help of submitted fashion collections, its documentation, and last, but not least, the career success of its former award winners, the award has become one of the most important international endorsement awards for fashion design students.

The global competition targets especially talented design students from all sectors of design beginning with the fourth semester. The second category is open to final and graduate projects.

SDBI was founded in 1978 by fashion entrepreneur Klaus Steilmann with the goal to foster a new generation of designers. In 2008 the foundation's charitable work was honored with an award as part of the German government and commerce initiative "Deutschland - Land der Ideen" / "Germany Land Of Ideas".
