This lecture will analyse recent socio-economic changes on large world scales that condition spending fashion patterns from the consumer viewpoint. Aspects such as the increase in textile prices, demands for salary increases, changes in consumer demographics and in design and production cycles will be considered as substantive forces that ultimately engender the construction of sartorial taste and purchase habits.

Fashion Trendsetter's London Editor João Paulo Nunes is the founding editor of the fashion and lifestyle blog World Man About Town (worldmanabouttown.com). He is also the Editor-at-Large at Schon! magazine, and Men's Fashion Editor for the Haute Mimi International website (www.hautemimi.com). He has had articles published in several other publications including Geil, Out There and Byron. He has received several awards in his career, including being made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2008, and lives in London.
