Life Ball Fashion Show and Exclusive MINI 2011 Presented by DSQUARED²

Life Ball Fashion Show and Exclusive MINI 2011 Presented by DSQUARED²

May 25, 2011 - Dean and Dan Caten, better known as the Canadian designer duo DSQUARED² were responsible for the Life Ball Fashion Show at the Vienna City Hall Square on May 21, 2011.

Behind this label are the twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten, who are also called "Les Enfants terribles of the international fashion industry." Due to their distinctive fashion, that is a mix of cowboy glamour, seventies chic, rockabilly and sex appeal, the design duo quickly gained international success. The Caten brothers grew up in Canada, studied at the Parsons School of Design in New York, and in 1994 they founded the label called Dsquared" in Milan. Their motto is "Born in Canada, living in London, made in Italy".

At the beginning the designers focused on male fashion yet, since 2003 they have also been designing for women 's line. Worldwide, their own flagship stores distribute perfumes, eyewear and a wide range of accessories. The award-winning fashion designers are currently the hottest, hippest designers and visionary trend setters. The DSQUARED² brand has achieved a high profile worldwide. Their eye-catching creations are one step ahead of trends. Each collection represents a certain motto, which makes their fashion unique.

Their shows are legendary and guarantee for grandiose spectacle - glamorous, elegant, sexy, wild - perfectly staged with live acts and lavish stage sets. The polarizing and distinctive label fits so perfectly with the Life Ball. "We look forward to a one-in-a-million combination of different styles created by this hip fashion label," said inspired Gery Keszler - the founder of Life Ball who has been striving to welcome the designers.

The merging of fashion and music has been playing an important role and has always been a significant trademark of brand. Among others like Bill Kaulitz, Tokio Hotel's front singer, dressed as a black Angel on the catwalk, stars like Paris Hilton, Rihanna, Lenny Kravitz, Justin Timberlake, Ricky Martin, Nelly Furtado and Brian Adams have collaborated with Dsquared". Their debut into the world of music industry came along when pop-icon Madonna hired the twins to design 150 outfits for herself and her performers in her video "Don't Tell Me" and her "Drowned World Tour 50".

DSQUARED² also designed costumes for the International tours of Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Fergie, Laura Pausini and Tokio Hotel. Dean and Dan are looking forward to showing Vienna their outlandish fashion and to support Life Ball fighting HIV/AIDS. "The Life Ball is a celebration of living, a celebration of hope. We are more than honoured to participate in a fund raiser that hits so close to home."

Exclusive Life Ball MINI 2011 by DSQUARED²

DSQUARED² unveiled their exclusive Life Ball MINI 2011 in Vienna, on May 23, 2011.

The twin brothers refashioned their MINI Cooper S to ensure that it would be armed for adventures of all kinds. Among its striking features are the front guard, rally headlamps, tinted side windows with grilles and the spare tyre on the tailgate. But that's not all: the vehicle's raised chassis and deep-tread all-terrain tyres instantly evoke a sense of adventure.

When it came to the interior, our two designers similarly scrutinised every detail. If road signs are unclear, there's a compass to help you head in the right direction, while floormats made of structured aluminium sheeting protect the inside from dirt.

The trademark DSQUARED² maple leaf on the leather head restraints and the side doors rounds off the cabin of this robust MINI with a stylish flour. Dean and Dan are delighted with the result: "Our MINI 'Red Mudder' is 100 per cent DSQUARED²." At that night of the event, this one-off glided along the red carpet at the legendary Life Ball.

This year sees carmaker MINI supporting Europe's biggest AIDS charity event for the 11th time. Each year a one-off MINI is created for the Life Ball, the proceeds of which support projects combating HIV/AIDS.

Since 2001 more than half a million euros has been generated by these specially styled Life Ball MINI models on behalf of Aids Life.

Gery Keszler, the founder and organiser of the Life Ball, is impressed by this longstanding collaboration: "MINI has been a partner of the Life Ball for 11 years and each year it demonstrates anew its creativity, enthusiasm and passion for this good cause. This year's Life Ball MINI designed by DSQUARED² provides further persuasive evidence of this." In previous years, designers such as Agent Provocateur, Donatella Versace, Diesel, Missoni and Gianfranco Ferré obliged with their own designs for a Life Ball MINI.
