October 17, 2011, [New York] - Phuong My Spring/Summer 2012 Ready-to-Wear and Haute Couture Collections befittingly inspired awe and wonder from the very first opening piece of her last New York Fashion Week show.
Phuong My's construction skills and her mastery of manipulating shapes was evident in the grouping of her couture evening gowns. The use of 3-D structure and precise boning to create bubbling shapes, a modern rendition of dresses worn by the Infanta in paintings by the Renaissance master Diego Velazquez, was a sight to behold.
Cutout rose shapes further enhanced the femininity and richness of this collection. Dynamic embellishments such as extended collars, asymmetry, contrasting color and a sexy use of gentle lace made the garments accessible for fashion innovators and novices alike.
Fashion designer Phuong My's inspiration depends on to create dreams for the women who wear her clothes. With careful attention to form and shape, she expresses her passion for design through creating beautiful and delicate dresses. Her Spring/Summer 2012 line incorporates elements of Asian Art and Western Culture; a combination of ideas that mirror the designer's experiences and background.
