Porsche Design Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Modern Evolution: a Reengineered Take on Modern Chic

[Stuttgart], March 14, 2014 - The Porsche Design Spring/Summer 2014 Collection, titled "The New Digital Ambiguity", is inspired by the impact of digital culture on design. Therefore, the luxury brand reinvented fashion classics with a modern peachiness.

"The pace of modern life and rapid exchange of ideas and information has transformed the perception of the world and how we live in it," says Thomas Steinbruck, Creative Director Porsche Design. "Hence we compelled to build a look that conforms to this new living space. Structured yet relaxed, constructed and undone. Porsche Design applied the most cutting edge techniques in garment construction to familiar yet forward looking shapes."

The campaign for the Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Collection from Porsche Design has been shot by internationally renowned fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh. It is the second time Lindbergh brings new looks expressively to life for the luxury brand. The images are already being used in advertisements around the world.

The shoot for "The New Digital Ambiguity" - the name of the new fashion collection - took place in Berlin in September last year. The collection from Creative Director Thomas Steinbrück is characterised by clear shapes and functional elements.

The luxury brand reinvented fashion classics with a modern peachiness, inspired by the influence of digital culture on modern design. Classic cuts have been reinterpreted, using high-quality materials, such as "sport mesh" and neoprene.

"The new collection embodies modern design", says Peter Lindbergh, talking about the Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Collection from Porsche Design. "The combination of classic cuts and forward-looking materials reflects modern chic - characteristics that are perfectly suited to the philosophy of Porsche design."

Peter Lindbergh is one of the most important contemporary photographers. He is a master of black-and-white photography and is responsible for numerous fashion shoots for world-renowned magazines. Hailing from Duisburg, Germany, Lindbergh revolutionised fashion photography like no one else with his style-defining photographs from the 1980s and 1990s.

17 signature looks were selected for the campaign - ten looks for women and seven for men. The fashion collection was modelled by the German top model Katrin Thormann and David Florentin from Luxembourg.

In Porsche Design's Spring/Summer 2014 Womenswear Collection this can be observed in the iconic Funnel Pocket Dress: a simple shape of a sleeveless dress, where wisely placed pockets on the hips add a favorable volume to the dress, whilst at the same time materials like finely spun sport-mesh are assuring the optimal comfort. The result is a modern and pure revival, establishing sport-mesh as a high end material. Other classical elements like the trench coat are being modernised through the use of neoprene. With a generous collar and additional darts a new look is guaranteed. In the sense of rapid change in this collection soft leather is used in contraction to strong shapes. It reflects the spirit of the time, where sweat pants are made suitable for everyday use by being made out of leather. The appeal of a plain shirt is enhanced by a delicate belt and completes the look.

The Porsche Design Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear Collection is following the same principles by using even more straightforward shapes. It avoids the unnecessary and accentuates the functional elements of modern design and apparel. Every design component has a dedicated purpose. This is to be seen in the collection's Car Coat, where the rubber band can be used to adjust to different physical shapes. A modern peachiness is created by the use of technical inspired details such as magnetic locks instead of classical buttons or sealed seams instead of conventional stitching.
