Can Couture: Earth-friendly Fashion Statement by Georgina Goodman
	Acclaimed British designer Georgina Goodman puts her passion, energy and vision to work to create a pair of shoes from recycled drinks cans. Six months in the making, the stylish and elegant pair of shoes was 'made in love' from drinks cans Georgina had collected for recycling at home and in her workshop. Hand-crafted with a beautifully twisted metal heel the shoes make an iconic statement illustrating how constantly evolving fashion and looking after the environment can work hand in hand. On the project Georgina commented, "I'm a great advocate for recycling and drinks cans are one of the most environmentally friendly forms of packaging as each one is 100% and infinitely recyclable. That means I could produce an entirely new pair of shoes for next season by melting down this pair!". Georgina incorporated 32 ring pulls from drinks cans into the final design to communicate the source of the raw material and make an iconic statement. In addition to 32 ring pulls, 26 metal drinks cans, 4 square feet of leather, 6 meters of leather thong, and 12 meters of thread were used to produce these hand-crafted shoes.
