June 28, 2011 - [New York] - Royal Asscher is taking a walk on the wild side.

The new 'Shining Stars'collection, designed by Reena Ahluwalia for Royal Asscher, is inspired by the day and night of the African Savannah and its animal magnetism. Capturing the thrill and the magic again, the affordable "Shining Stars" collection is an expansion of Royal Asscher's 'Stars of Africa' line that benefits its Africa-focused fundraising initiative through the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF).

The Shining Stars collection is comprised of two new exciting materials:
- 18k rose, yellow gold and rhodium-plated sterling silver.
- White and black ceramic combined with 18k rose, yellow and white gold.

The collection consists of beautiful pendants and stunning rings. The styles continue to feature free-floating diamonds encased in a fluid-filled sapphire dome, giving them the effect of shimmering stars. The material choice allows the retail prices to start at just $1,950. Jewellery consists of diamonds encased in a fluid filled sapphire globe, which allows them to dance, float and cascade down gently in the globe, effect is just like snowflakes in a snowglobe.

Lita Asscher, president of Royal Asscher of America says: "The Shining Stars designs stand as a symbol of vibrant beauty of the African continent and its people. Pieces are bold, playful, and whimsical. I think we were able to achieve a modern, minimal and clean look with our new floating-diamonds collection".

Designer Reena Ahluwalia adds: "We are very excited to introduce new materials with our floating diamonds concept. African savannah, abstract leopard and cheetah prints became my inspiration source for "Shining Stars" collection. One of 2011's hottest looks; we are seeing this exotic trend hugely influencing runways and street fashion. The new collection is versatile because patterns are so compatible and classic."
